    Not included

    Membership isn't insurance.

It doesn't cover specialists, imaging, hospital or emergency care, surgery or prescriptions. Vaccines and pulmonary function testing are referred out. We recommend keeping coverage for those, through insurance or another arrangement.

A DPC agreement is not insurance and does not satisfy the health coverage requirements of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

    Questions

    About paying.

Do I still need health insurance?

You don't need insurance to become a patient. Anyone can enroll, insured or not.

But if you have health insurance today, we don't recommend canceling it to join, and direct primary care isn't designed to replace catastrophic coverage. Membership covers your everyday primary care; insurance is still what protects you for hospital stays, specialists, surgery and emergencies. A high-deductible or catastrophic plan pairs well with DPC.

    How does billing work?

Memberships are billed monthly by card or bank draft, with a one-time $99 enrollment fee per household. There's no long-term contract: you can cancel with 30 days' notice. Labs are billed at cost, with no markup, and in-office procedures have posted prices.

    Can I use my HSA?

Often, yes. Under current IRS guidance (IRS Notice 2026-05), HSA funds can pay for a direct primary care membership when it's $150 a month or less for an individual, or $300 a month or less for a family. Every individual Face-to-Face membership is under $150.

Depending on household size and ages, a family membership can come to more than $300 a month, which is above the family limit. If yours would, talk with us before you enroll. This isn't tax advice, so confirm the details with your plan administrator or tax advisor.

I'm on Medicare or Medicaid. Can I join?

Yes, you're welcome. Dr. Briggs has opted out of Medicare and the practice doesn't bill Medicaid, so you'll pay the membership yourself and sign a short private agreement. Your Medicare or Medicaid coverage still applies to hospitals, specialists and everything outside our office.

    What isn't included?

Imaging, specialist visits, hospital and emergency care, and prescriptions aren't part of the membership, though we help you find the lowest cash prices for them. Vaccines and pulmonary function testing are referred out.
